Financial Modeling & Risk Analysis

Background

Dan Plasterer brings 25 years of actuarial expertise to Fourth Wall Capital’s underwriting process — and that background matters in ways that go beyond a credential on a business card.

As a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Dan holds the highest designation in the casualty actuarial field. For two decades, he served as Lead Pricing Actuary for one of the largest and most profitable medical malpractice insurance companies in the United States — a role that required building financial models capable of pricing risk accurately in complex, high-stakes environments. Actuaries are trained to think in probability distributions, not point estimates. They stress-test assumptions. They build models designed to hold up under adverse scenarios, not just favorable ones.

That discipline translates directly to real estate underwriting. Where many sponsors present a single base-case projection, Dan builds models that show investors the full range of outcomes — including the scenarios that could go wrong. For investors who want to understand actual risk, not just projected upside, that approach is genuinely rare.

Dan also brings direct real estate investing experience. He is currently co-GP on two multifamily deals in Dallas, TX and Salt Lake City, UT, and is a passive LP investor in five additional multifamily deals across the country — including assets in Dallas, Wichita Falls TX, Salt Lake City, and Winston-Salem NC. He has also purchased and sold short-term rental properties in Hilton Head Island, SC.

In his professional career, Dan manages a team of 15 actuaries — bringing both the technical depth and the people leadership skills that a growing investment firm requires.
